The Competitive Local Exchange Carrier provides the equipment for the install. They have facilities in each telephone company to attach your phone line to the Internet. They also deliver the router, and configure it (assign it an IP). They will ping the router from their laptop to ensure connectivity. They will also call your DSL provider to test from the outside. The CLEC is responsible for the installation up to and including the router. The tech will not touch your computer or network in any way. LAN configuration for workstations and Internet connections are the end users responsibility. You will need to be present for this install. Assuming a successful installation, you will be up and running with DSL service at that time. |
